AIX port usage

To see which process is using a port on AIX, enter the following command:

netstat -Aan | grep <port>

 

This will produce output of the following format:

<string> tcp        0      0  *.<port>             *.*                LISTEN

 

using the string listed above, enter the following command:

rmsock <string> tcpcb

 

The rmsock command will return a message of the following format:

The socket ... is being held by proccess <process id>

 

Display more information about the process using the following command:

ps -ef | grep <process id>

 

Windows port usage

netstat -aon | <port>

pslist <process id>

 

Linux port usage

netstat -anp | grep <port number>

ps -efl | grep <process id>
